I rewrote this song about 3 times. Finally writing the final version
in the studio minutes before vocal tracking.
This song is about how vanity has become so
prioritized with opposite sexes in places like South Florida.
This song I think really describes a day through the lens
of the dating scene in the hot spots of this state and many others.
Things I've heard that people are willing to do for
luxury or a free pass from hard work on the feminine side
and the disillusion from the side of a desperate a man is
the basis. It's not something explained to
anyone as a kid.
I get asked what the sound snippet at the end of the song
is. The song is an old Spanish folk song that originated from
Spanish farmers. It's called: De colores (Of Colors). You
can wikipedia the info.
My mom used to sing it to me when I was an infant/little kid,
and it stuck with me years after. She sang a few other songs
but this one was always linked to my memories.
So to personalize the album
I naturally had my mom sing and record it for the album.
It transitions into Color Me Happy, and into a chaotic environment.
Innocence thrown into chaos.
Lyrics:
lyrics
Polar night sky,
will you lift me up and ease my burning chest,
Another day is gone,
i'd find you in the perfect kind of light.
Desert rose, please let me in.
Limousines will bring you to your stage
with masses on their knees.
A perfect portrait of your life on sand
as she whispers in their ears,
"if you got money, let me in"
Use yourself, to leave more than your clothes
across the earth.
Silver beams across my window cracks,
am I alive again?
The only residue from last night's crawl
is left on my nightstand:
"If you got money, let me in"
Desert rose, please let me in.
Use yourself, to leave more than your clothes
across this earth.
Who am I?
Who am I to sink inside your sleazy thoughts?
Who am I to slither through your bedroom door?
Who am I to hold you back?
Who am I to hold your hand?
